Poetry.com the response!

Poetry.com letter response

For those of you who have been following my posts in regards to Poetry.com the scam and my poem being plagiarized on their website, here is a letter I received from them today in response to the forceful letter I sent them.  For privacy purposes I blocked out my address and the name of the plagiarizer.  Here is the url to my original post http://apoetsview.today.com/2008/10/03/poetrycom-the-scam/

So, I have to say that I am surprised because I never thought I would hear from them.  And, I also have to say that I do have a new found respect for them.  However, I stand by my comments in regards to submitting to them as a poetry publisher.  They are not publishers but a business.

I also want to publicly thank Today.com for their diligence as if not for them I never would have known my poem was plagiarized.

I submitted a poem to them once. I’ve been getting spam ever since! I really don’t like them. I hope you get everything settled.

Good for you for standing up for yourself, and good for them for listening… :-)

    Thanks for visiting yesterday!

I am glad you stood up for your rights. This is awful what some companies do to take advantage on the goodness of others.

Poetry.com has been scamming people since before there was an Internet to grab them with. I fell for their lines after finding an add for them in a writer’s magazine, in 1993.

Ironically, my nephew tried to prove to me that it was a real site and sent in the crappiest poem you’ve ever heard/read, about eating cheese, and they sent him a congratulations letter, telling him that his poem had been selected for publication.

I love it when I can say “I told you so!!”

I submitted a poem to them back when I was a teen and didn’t know better. I quickly figured it out when *I* had to buy a book and it was actually stated that everyone got published.

    Congrats on the win :)

I told you so - can be satisfying. Thank both of you for your comments.

I’m still trying to decide which is worse: poetry.com or PublishAmerica. haha. i think they’re both on the same level of credibility ruining so-called publishers. I guess poetry.com doesn’t charge a fee, but that’s really the only perk.
