Schwarzenegger’s Sales Tax Increase

Published by jodapoet at 1:58 pm under Writing, politics Edit This

I cannot believe during a recession as we are experiencing now that the governor of California would propose a sales tax increase of l.5% which would result in a 10% sales tax in California.  In addition he will be raising fees and taxes on alcohol, veterinary businesses, auto repair shops and golfing fees.  The plan also calls for cuts in education, prisons,  public safety and Medi Cal.  Is he completely nuts? With so many losing their jobs, their homes and not being able to afford the basics he decides to raise taxes?  Why doesn’t he give up some of his salary, he certainly doesn’t need nor deserve all he makes - he doesn’t do anything.  I am appalled at this tax increase and all I can say is it better not pass.  We are ridding ourselves of Bush in January now it’s time for the “Governator” to go!

It’s interesting that the republicans have been harping about Obama wanting to raise taxes, when it’s only on the rich 5% of America and The Terminator is doing it to your sales tax…..

We just had a tax hike in Chicago & Cook County both making Cook County sales taxes 10% and Chicago’s 10.25%

    I feel your pain.

Didn’t “we” impeach Grey Davis and elect the Govenator? Maybe that was a mistake after all… Just sayin’

Yes, it is sad that with all their budget deficits, sales tax hike and price increases is right away seen as savior :(

Yikes, that’s usually a bad ticket for a G.O.P. man to run with… I doubt you’ll have to deal with the governator much longer.
