Being Hypnotized
After the discussions on sleep travel, dreaming and reincarnation I began thinking about hypnotism and how it fits into the dream state. I recently saw an episode on Oprah where Dr. Oz was hypnotized and brought back into a past life. I admit that I find myself questioning hypnotism. I don’t see how someone could be brought into that state by a hypnotist “talking you through it” and making you fall asleep. Although I do believe Dr. Oz did experience being hypnotized and brought into a past life, I still question its validity.
This is quite different but years ago My Mom was in the hospital recovering from heart surgery. My Dad and I went to visit. During that visit a therapist came in to give my Mom one of her daily therapies which basically was geared towards relaxation and quieting the mind. Long story short, the therapist told her to close her eyes and think about her favorite place and how she felt while she was there. What she thought, what she heard, what she smelled etc… After about 10 minutes both my Mom and Dad had fallen into dreamland. I on the other hand was wide awake thinking to myself “what is going on?” Though this was not hypnotism, at least I don’t think it was it didn’t affect me at all which makes me wonder could I ever be hypnotized and brought back to a past life? Because, I would love to travel there someday.
I guess that I am just questioning the fact that if hypnotism is real can it be used to travel back through past lives. Your thoughts on this?

More often than not, psychosomatic stimuli to hypnosis/past life regression/general therapy depends entirely on the individuals willingness to believe.
I did incredible things back when I used to experiment with psychedelics, and believed those things to be true. Now I’m older and more cynical, but don’t regard the experiences as negative ones.
I think if you want to find out about past lives, go see a tarot card reader you trust, let her/him give you their insight, and go from there. Drink some dream-inducing tea, maybe, and see what happens.
Threedegrees - That is a great tip. I’ve never seen a tarot card reader. I like the idea of dream inducing tea.
Ratty - I’m with you. I love the unexplained.
Mike - Yes I’ve heard that happen where the subliminal messages can be planted into someone’s mind. That’s great you stopped smoking though, Congrats!!!
