Seeing into the future

Published by jodapoet at 10:17 am under Writing, philosophy Edit This

This dream sequence discussion has my brain working overtime.  I’m hoping that through dreams we are able to see the future.  Wouldn’t that be exciting?  To see what is ahead, recognize that it is our future and if need be change it in some way.

I had a dream last night which I hope is a peek into my future.  I dreamt of a friend who is much younger than I.  He’s about 16 years younger and some might say I’m old enough to be his Mother.  From the day I met him in 2003 I’ve been attracted to him.  Of course this may just be that old mid life crisis for me but I do find myself thinking of him often.  Long story short, in my dream the two of us were sitting on a bench somewhere, I don’t know where it was but we were eating ice cream cones and drinking wine.  There was someone else there but I didn’t see anyone.  He was talking to the person I didn’t see and said “Well, I normally do go for blondes but I’ll make an exception here” then turned to me and blew me a kiss.  Now, those of you who know the both of us will find this scenario humorous and I can see you laughing right now.

However, when we do see each other in non dreamland life we do blow kisses to each other as a playful type flirting.  We both know that we’ll never be more than friends due to the age difference but it is fun to play.  It boosts both our egos.  I’m just hoping that this dream was not a past life but rather a future life or a premonition?  A girl can dream can she not?:)

Seriously though this is an exciting subject and I’m just wondering what you all think about seeing into the future while dreaming or sleeping.

I tend to see dreams not as premontion but as a window into our inner emotional selves.

If I were to have your dream, I would look to myself on the following questions:

    1) Is my attraction to the younger man a yearning for connection of person or has the younger man become an icon representing a notsalgic glimpse into a time of youth and possibility?

    2) What is the panorama if any from the bench viewpoint ? Is there something of majesty that you are missing before you for the attention you’re paying to the thought or fantasy of the man beside you.

    3) Why are you so anxious to have the attention of a man that is talking to a 3rd person while you await anxiously for some sign that he notices you?

    4) In the dream, why are you satisfied with a blown kiss after a qualifying statement (”…Well, I normally do go for blondes but I’ll make an exception here..”) regarding your worthiness when you would not accept this from a man that was meeting you for a first date?

    3) What is behind you that you’re aware of while sitting at the bench? Is it something you have forgotten, either indvertently or on purpose, and are trying to have remain behind you rather then as a part of where you are at the present time of this dream?

The important thing for me would be to examine how I feel when reflecting upon the images of my dream…typical and out-of-vogue analysis from a typical out-of-vogue person.

Maybe I wouldn’t ask these at all being a guy.

    But if I were you…..
