Controversy Over Michelle Obama’s Attire

I had to comment on this story because it is so ridiculous. There is controversy brewing over the fact that Michelle Obama is showing her bare arms in these photos which appear on her website. Statements have been made that it is inappropriate and not the time of year to be showing bare arms.
I normally do not like using profanity but WTF. I think she looks fabulous and furthermore it’s nobody’s business what she wears. If she wants to wear a bikini, who cares. Is the media really that desperate that they have to start picking on Michelle Obama’s attire? Your thoughts?

I agree. Michelle Obama is a fit, healthy looking woman. Who cares if she is showing bare arms. And the idea that it is an inappropriate time of year-what’s that all about? In fact, from my experience years ago on the stage, those lights and all those rooms full of people get really hot. I’m sure she is more comfortable in sleaveless dresses. One more thing, did people really expect her to wear a long sleaved evening gown to the inaugural ball?
This story makes me angry, too. What century are we in, anyway? I think it is very demeaning that instead of focusing on her work the media focuses on how she dresses. I hope she continues to be strong and goes on wearing what she wants!
I am with you, Jo, we are not in Victorian England and should not have to abide by anyone’s fashion dictates. I applaud Michelle Obama for wearing whatever looks good on her - wish I could don sleeveless dresses without my flabby arms rippling for all the world to see. There are always those who are going to criticize so let them, jealous critters that they are. It is nice to have a first lady who is charming, fun, intelligent - and has good arms!
Leave the woman alone she allways looks classy and well put together, who cares if she showes her arms.
why is showing arms a sin?
so she should be dressing like a nun?
i thought people are more modern thinking these days?!
strange
btw, thanks for blogrolling me

Yes, leave the woman alone. I do think people should focus on more important matters that what the First Lady is wearing.
I personally don’t care what she wears. I remember the media making a big deal of Hillary Clinton and how many different hairstyles she had over their tenure in office. I think they just have nothing else to say so they have to think of something.
jessbiel - Exactly and it does get hot on stage. Thanks for commenting.
caregivingdaughter - I agree. It’s ridiculous in this culture that we put so much emphasis on attire. Look at the academy awards. Fashion was more the event than the awards.
Carmen - well said. She looks good in anything she wears. And, you don’t have flabby arms
Biscuit - I totally agree.
fionawong - I thought we were more modern thinking as well. It’s the media that has nothing better to report. I love your blog by the way.
lina - Yes, I do too. There are much more important matters out there.
pef1996 - I think you are exactly right. They have to find something to report so they pick on her. Thanks for stopping by.
Showing her bare arms in those classy dresses, why not? She is just fabulous the way she is!!!
icybc - I agree. She would look good in anything. Thanks icy
