J.T. O’Sullivan & the SF 49ers

Published by jodapoet under Sports Edit This

They’re on a roll and have me excited again.  I haven’t seen the Niners play this well since the Montana/Young eras.  With the placement of  J.T. O’Sullivan as quarterback it looks as if he’s given the team the spark they need.  He is the perfect meld of both Montana and Young.  He can get out of the pocket and when in trouble run, though not gracefully and knows what he has to do to get that first down.  He even looks a lot like Young when running.  He’s got those same field scanning eyes as Joe Montana.  He’s able to scan the field without moving his head in order to find a receiver.  It’s amazing to watch.  He can also throw those sharp, perfect spirals whether down the field or across the field.  He’s a leader and is obviously passionate about what he does.

The running game with Gore and Davis among others has been phenomenal.  Gore is accruing 100 yards a game. He is a vital part of the team as are so many of the players.  The defense is holding it’s ground with tough, hard plays and getting the job done, making it look easy when it is not.  They’re fantastic so far this year.

The play calling sometimes I think is bizarre but then again I’m not a coach.

All in all they’re doing a great job and I really think they can make it to the playoffs this year.
